About Barb
Barb took office on January 1, 2015, following seven years' public service as a Genoa Township Trustee, and was re-elected Commissioner in 2018. Her fellow Commissioners elected her Vice-President in 2015, 2018 and 2021, and President in 2016 and 2019.She holds Ph.D., M.A. and B.A. degrees in political science from The Ohio State University, where she taught hundreds of OSU students the fundamentals and ideals of American constitutional government. She was also a successful statewide Republican political strategist and campaign consultant. She currently serves as an elected member of the Delaware County Republican Party Central Committee, representing the “Genoa A” precinct.
Barb was raised in Genoa Township, where she attended Harlem Elementary and Big Walnut High Schools. She resides in Genoa Township with her husband of 52 years, Jim, a practicing attorney who happily answers to his popular nickname: “Mr. Barb Lewis.” Barb and Jim are active members of the Church of the Resurrection and have two grown sons, one of whom resides in Denver and the other in Columbus with his wife and their five youngsters. All are diehard Ohio State Buckeye fans.
